Local Food

At Living Well community we have a strong commitment to local food, growing it ourselves, buying from other local producers, and also increasing the options for foraging for wild foods. Here are some of the ways we are working on food production:

  • Community Garden
  • Individual gardens close to residences
  • Edible Landscaping throughout the property
  • Enhancement of wild edibles on the Conservation Areas and throughout the property (See attached inventory of existing wild edibles)
  • Neighborhood Park with Orchard

Some additional items we are working on are:
  • Local food buying cooperative
  • Commercial kitchen for preserving and processing food
  • Fermentation of foods and beverages
  • Wild and Cultivated mushroom production
  • Community milk and egg production
  • Cafe' featuring locally grown food
  • Community root cellar
